Both are located a few blocks north of the St. Cloud State University Campus.

Le St. Germain Suite Hotel is also within walking distance; they do not not offer a special conference rate, but they do offer a 35% discount for government employees.

Travel to/from St. Cloud

St. Cloud is about 80 miles north of the Minneapolis St Paul (MSP) Airport.

Metro Transit has an excellent mass transit travel planner that can give you instructions for travel between the airport and the St Cloud Transit Center (one block from either of the conference hotels). Please note that the last trip from the airport each day begins at 5:30 pm and that the travel planner can be used to plan trips up to 3 weeks into the future.

There are also two shuttle companies and a bus company (Jefferson) that can transport you directly from the airport to St Cloud. Or you can take a Greyhound bus or Amtrak passenger train from downtown St Paul to St Cloud.

Minneapolis St Paul Airport to St. Cloud

  • Mass Transit
  • Executive Express The Executive Express shuttle offers a special rate when several people reserve online as a group. If you are interested in sharing a shuttle bus van or a rental car with other KISS2012 attendees, you can contact other conference attendees and make arrangements with each other on the KISS2012 Facebook page. Note that they have a “fuel surcharge” and drop-off fee.
  • Lakes Express
  • Jefferson Bus Lines Note that the MSP to St. Cloud trip takes almost 4 hours, whereas the return trip from St. Cloud to MSP takes only about 2 hours.

Downtown Minneapolis St Paul to St Cloud

  • Greyhound bus: From the airport, take the light rail all the way to the end and walk about 5 minutes to the Greyhound station. Signs in the Airport terminal will direct you to the Hiawatha (Line No. 55) train. Get off the train at Hennepin and walk from 5th Street to 12th. The station is a block or two off Hennepin on Hawthorne Avenue. The light rail fare will be approximately $2.00. See http://metrotransit.org
  • Amtrak passenger train: To get from the airport to the train depot, visit Metro Transit and plan your trip from your arriving airport terminal to the Amtrak Depot (Sample Itinerary). Train 7, the Empire Builder to St. Cloud departs at 11:15 PM and arrives in St. Cloud at 12:40 AM. The return trip departs at 5:14 AM and arrives at 7:05 AM (so you may prefer to take the Jefferson bus line for your return trip).

If you drive…

If you decide to rent a car, you will be able to park for free at either hotel. There is also parking available for $1/hour, maximum of $8 a day on campus, directly across from the Performing Arts Center. This lot tends to fill up by mid-morning on weekdays.

Both conference hotels are about a 15 minute walk from the SCSU Performing Arts Center, where most of the KISS2012 activities will be taking place.
